Hull Tree Care does garden maintenance and tidy-ups across Hull and East Yorkshire, alongside our tree and hedge work. We cut back overgrowth and shrubs and get gardens back under control. Quotes are free.

Garden maintenance

We keep gardens in shape by cutting back the things that grow out of hand. That means shrubs spreading over borders, overgrowth creeping across paths and fences, and bushes that have lost their shape.

It's practical, hands-on garden work done by the same people who look after your trees and hedges. Because we're tree surgeons as well, the bigger jobs in a garden, like an overgrown hedge or a tree that has got too big, don't need a second firm.

What we cut back

  • Overgrown shrubs: cut back and reshaped so they sit in their border again
  • Ivy and climbers: trimmed back where they've spread over walls, fences and sheds
  • Brambles and overgrowth: cut back where they've taken over a border or path
  • Self-seeded saplings: small trees that have come up in the wrong place, cut out before they become a tree job

Overgrown gardens tidied up

If a garden has been left for a season or two, we can get it back under control. We cut back the overgrowth, reshape shrubs and bring hedges back to a sensible size, so the garden is usable again.

How a garden tidy-up works

  1. 1

Tell us what's bothering you. Call or WhatsApp, and send a few photos of the garden if you can.

  2. 2

Get your free quote. We'll arrange it with you, and tell you what we'd cut back and by how much.

  3. 3

Agree what stays. You decide which plants and shrubs you want kept, and how far back the rest should go.

  4. 4

We do the work. If there's tree or hedge work too, it's done on the same visit where we can.

When to book a tidy-up

Autumn and late winter are good times for a big cut-back, when most plants have stopped growing. A spring or summer tidy-up is fine too. If we're cutting back hedges or dense shrubs in spring or summer, we check for nesting birds first and leave any active nests alone.

Done alongside tree and hedge work

Garden tidy-ups fit naturally with tree and hedge jobs. If we're already coming out, ask us to quote for the garden at the same time. That can include hedges trimmed on the same visit and cutting back overhanging trees.

Areas we cover

Hull and the towns within about 35 miles, including Beverley, Cottingham, Hessle, Willerby, Brough, Driffield, Hornsea, Withernsea, Bridlington, Market Weighton and Goole.

Questions

Anything else, just ask when you call.

What gardening do you do?

Hull Tree Care does garden maintenance and tidy-ups: cutting back overgrowth and shrubs and getting an overgrown garden under control. If you're not sure whether we do a particular job, ask when you call.

Can you do the garden at the same time as the trees?

Yes. Ask us to quote for the garden when you get a quote for tree or hedge work.

Can you sort out a garden that's been left for years?

Yes. We'll cut it back in a sensible order, starting with whatever is blocking paths, windows or light, and tell you what can be saved.

Can you cut a shrub back hard without killing it?

Often, yes. Many garden shrubs, such as privet, hawthorn and forsythia, regrow well after a hard cut. Others, including lavender and most conifers, won't regrow from old bare wood, so they can only be trimmed lightly. We'll tell you which is which before we cut.

Do you give free quotes?

Yes. Every gardening quote is free, with no obligation to go ahead.
